The 2024 Taiwan-Indonesia Industrial Cooperation Forum held in Taichung, Taiwan, marking a sustainable commitment to long-term collaboration and mutual success

The 2024 Taiwan-Indonesia Industrial Cooperation Forum was held in Taichung on July 3 to establish a mutually beneficial and win-win platform for long-term bilateral industrial cooperation. This forum signed 5 industrial MoUs, in which the shipbuilding industry of both parties has introduced substantive cooperation from talent cultivation to technical exchanges and the textile industry International talent cultivation cooperation has also been launched, laid a solid foundation for subsequent investment and factory establishment by both parties.
Since 2017, Taiwan and Indonesia have been working together to establish a platform for industry cooperation and exchange. Over the past eight years, with the guidance of the Industrial Development Administration of the Ministry of Economic Affairs in Taiwan and the organization by the Chinese National Federation of Industries, the "Industrial Collaboration Forum" has facilitated substantial cooperation in areas of ship building, smart machinery, food & biotechnology and smart city. Even during the Covid-19 epidemic, the industry community of both countries still maintained close interactions, generated concrete collaboration cases and fostered international cooperation opportunities for the post pandemic era.

The 2024 Taiwan-Indonesia Industrial Cooperation Forum was grandly open in Lin Hotel in Taichung City.Taiwan hosted the physical meeting for both sides and invited representatives from industry, government, academia, and research institute from Taiwan and Indonesia. A total of 309 representatives from industry, government, academia, and research institutes from Taiwan and Indonesia attended this forum to discuss opportunities and models for long-term industrial cooperation between two parties and to expand areas of industrial cooperation.

First of all, the forum kicked off with a review video of forums ,held in the past years. On Taiwan side, Ho Chin-Tsang, Vice Minister of Economic Affairs ,Dr. Yang Ying-Ming , Chairperson of Indonesia committee of CNFI, and Mr. Chen Chung, Representative of TETO Indonesia have attended this forum and made speeches respectively. The Indonesian side also made a speech to express support for the forum activities.

Vice Minister Ho Chin-Tsang of the Ministry of Economic Affairs expressed his gratitude to the Indonesian Ministry of Industry for establishing a good industrial exchange platform with Taiwan , integrating platform resources through the forum, and achieving fruitful results. The 2025 forum will be hosted by Indonesia. We look forward to sustainable and substantive exchanges between the two parties and jointly expand the international market.

This year's forum resulted in the signing of 5 MoUs in the fields of smart machinery, shipbuilding, textiles and electronics industries. In terms of specific industry cooperation, the 2024 Forum continued to arrange sub-forums in four major fields: "Shipbuilding", "Smart Machinery", "Food & Bio-technology" and "Smart City", where Taiwanese and Indonesian manufacturers have shared their experience in the application of various fields, and continued exchanges on possible future cooperation fields and models to promote substantial cooperation, and conducted business matchmaking between two countries after the sub-forum. A total of 12 Indonesia manufacturers attended the meetings to discuss cooperation with Taiwan manufacturers.

The Taiwan-Indonesia Industrial Collaboration Forum is integral to Taiwan's New Southbound Policy. The subsequent efforts related to the forum will primarily involve private sector industries, promoting the establishment of the Asia-Pacific industrial platform and substantial cooperation among nations. Information integration and connections are expected to foster a stronger relationship between Taiwan and Indonesia and lead Taiwan's industries into the Asia-Pacific market.
