In response to the growing needs of an aging population, the Hsinchu City Government established the Hsinchu City Long-Term Care management Center in January this year. To date, the center has served over 7,000 families. According to the Public Health Bureau, as of the end of July 2025, 15.78% of Hsinchu City’s residents are aged 65 or older, with the North District reaching 17.5%, close to the national average of 19.18%. The center streamlines application procedures through a single service window and continues to expand the recruitment of care management specialists, providing senior citizens and their families with more convenient, comprehensive, and high-quality care services.
Acting Mayor Chiu Chen-Yuan stated that since Mayor Kao Hung-Ann took office, the city has actively promoted the policy vision of “Harmony Between Generations” and “Health and Reassured.” The city government has built a more complete long-term care system to ensure that families of those with disabilities, dementia, or physical and mental challenges receive proper support, thereby improving the overall quality of family care. Currently, the Long-Term Care Management Center employs 24 care management specialists, who conduct home visits across communities. Using their professional expertise, they assess the needs of each senior citizen and family caregiver in a comprehensive manner.
Acting Mayor Chiu emphasized that care management specialists are the key to unlocking long-term care services and are the driving force behind community-based care policies. They not only collaborate with local care providers and social welfare organizations to design personalized care plans but also coordinate service implementation. “There is a lot of unseen hard work behind what they do,” he noted, “but thanks to their dedication, the needs of seniors and their families are truly met.
