On August 8, 2024, the Executive Yuan held the 3915th meeting. The “Four New Laws on Fraud Fighting” was one of the meeting topics. Additionally, the Ministry of the Interior (MOI) reported on the “Fraud Prevention Act” (The Act) and the planning “New Generation Anti-Fraud Strategy Action Plan 2.0.”
The government's promotion of the enactment and amendment of the four new laws on fraud fighting has been highly regarded by the ruling and opposition parties. It is also a deep concern to the general public, Minister of the MOI, Liu, Shyh-fang said at the press conference. This year in May, after the Executive Yuan introduced the Act, the Legislative Yuan rapidly conducted the evaluation and negotiation in the first legislative session. Afterwards, in July, the legislative process was completed. The Act was then promulgated by the President, empowering the administration team a useful tool in the fight against fraud. In addition, to reduce the damage caused by fraud, the Act integrated the power of public with private sectors; in terms of criminal justice, it increased the criminal liability of suspects, raised the threshold for parole, and established various measures to protect victims.
