Taipei, May 31 (CNA) The Taiwan-Asia Exchange Foundation (TAEF) said Tuesday that it would begin writing semiannual policy papers on Taiwan-India relations in collaboration with the New Dehli-based Observer Research Foundation (ORF), under a wide-ranging Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed Monday.
TAEF, Taiwan's first think tank to focus on Southeast Asian and South Asian affairs, said that the MOU also outlined plans for further collaboration with ORF on high-level symposiums and steering policy-orientated academic discussions on Taiwan-India relations.
TAEF Chairman Hsiao Hsin-huang (蕭新煌) said during the virtual signing ceremony Monday that with India a key partner in Taiwan's New Southbound Policy, the planned collaboration between the two think tanks would help to bolster Taiwan-India relations.
ORF President Samir Saran said that it was important for Taiwan and India to partner closely in order to understand each other's perspectives, be informed of mutual risks and opportunities, and ensure regional stability.
ORF is India's largest independent nonprofit policy think tank whose research activities cover issues such as energy, sustainable development, and political economy.
