Taiwan Innotech Expo 2022 Commences on October 13th

Taiwan Innotech Expo (TIE) 2022 will open with great fanfare at Hall 1 of Taipei World Trade Center from October 13th to October 15th. The virtual exhibition (https://tie.twtm.com.tw) will begin October 11th and last for 5 months. Among the main sections of the exhibition, the Innovation Pilot Pavilion is curated by the Industrial Development Bureau (IDB), Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA). The pavilion showcases the diverse range of technologies that contains seven major themes: semiconductor, healthcare, intelligent manufacturing, smart living, sustainability & green energy, defense & aerospace, and "Discovering Technology Treasures".

Event Will See 10 Major Taiwanese Semiconductor Companies Demonstrate "Silicon Shield"
For this year's event, IDB has specially set up a "Semiconductor Zone" where domestic semiconductor companies can exhibit their solutions and products. Among these exhibitors, Phison Electronics will introduce the PS5026-E26, a controller chip designed for PCIe Gen5 SSDs. Phison, which has been a major supplier for NAND Flash controller chips, is currently collaborating with AMD and Micron. With the support of the global leaders in processors and memory solutions, Phison plans to build up an ecosystem for the next-generation of storage technologies.
Himax Technologies is another well-known Taiwanese fabless semiconductor company that will present the unique chips for smart sensors. Himax's sensor chips have the advantages of ultralow power consumption and integration with edge computing. They can be equipped for a wide range of applications, especially those that will eventually require AIoT-related solutions, including computing platforms that analyze the flows of people and goods.

Sustainability Starts with Adoption of Green Technologies
The section pertaining to "Discovering Technology Treasures" will exhibit "Digital Carbon Emission Reduction Application Technology". This is a total solution for factories and office buildings with respect to raising power consumption efficiency, eliminating energy waste resulting from idling equipment, and optimizing resource allocation.
The National Chung Shan Institute of Science and Technology (NCSIST) will unveil an environment-friendly anti-fouling agent that contains micro-and nano-capsules. Made using an emulsifier-free polymerization method, the agent can be incorporated into the coating that applied to the hull of a ship or boat. The anti-fouling effect is gradually released and becomes persistent, thereby preventing marine organisms from attaching themselves to the hull and causing surface corrosions. At the same time, it does not pollute the ocean.

Cutting-Edge Biotechnologies from Taiwan Can Create Novel Strategies for Epidemic Prevention
SMEA will introduce the Qsep1-Lite Bio-Fragment Analyzer by BiOptic. As a compact device featuring a user-friendly interface, the Qsep1-Lite is a one-stop solution for detecting a viral infection since it encompasses saliva sample collection, sample analysis, and automatic result generation. It is designed to save time and cost of sample collection and analysis.
