Taiwan Carbon Solution Exchange (TCX) signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with CFA Institute on July 4, 2024. This collaboration aims to foster the development of ESG investment and climate change risk management talents, expand the sustainable financial market and assist Taiwan in achieving net-zero emissions.
The MoU signing ceremony signees are TCX CEO Joshua Tien and CFA Institute’s Head of Global Partnerships and Client Solutions, Global Markets, Brenda Hou. Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC) Director of General, Department of Planning, Brenda Hu, Taiwan Sustainable Finance and Enterprise Impact Association (TSFIA) Chairman Jennifer L. Wang, and CFA Society Taiwan President I-Cheng Liu, CFA, are invited as witnesses.
In her opening remarks, FSC Director Hu emphasized that cultivating sustainable professional talents is a critical aspect of the FSC's sustainable finance policy. Through talent cultivation, the concept of sustainable finance will be ingrained in the organizational culture of financial institutions and extended to stakeholders, leading industries to take sustainable actions and build a more resilient green ecosystem.
CFA Institute Ms. Hou stated that creating sustainable growth is one of the greatest challenges of our time, and market talent development will be crucial. As the global association of investment professionals, CFA Institute is deeply honored to further our collaboration with TCX. Collectively, we can contribute to ensuring strong and sustainable growth, by helping build institutional and policy-making capacity.
TCX CEO Tien pointed out that as a key driver of Taiwan’s net-zero development, TCX has the mission to promote net-zero education. Since its establishment, TCX has actively collaborated with international professional institutions and academies to hold relevant seminars and certification courses, strengthening the foundation of net-zero talents. We are honored to partner with CFA Institute, the world's renowned association for Chartered Financial Analysts, and work with the professional coaching team from TSFIA led by Professor Jennifer L. Wang, Department of Risk and Insurance, National Chengchi University. This collaboration will introduce CFA’s Certificate in ESG investing to Taiwan's financial professionals. This initiative aims to establish correct ESG investment concepts and standards, cultivate Taiwan's green talents, align Taiwan's sustainable finance talent with international standards, effectively prevent greenwashing, and expand green influence.
In the future, TCX will continue to play a critical role in net-zero development, promoting sustainable knowledge, and strengthening international collaborations. This effort aims to enhance Taiwan’s sustainable competitiveness, aiding businesses and domestic financial professionals in facing the challenges and competition of the climate change, and further constructing a more sustainable ecosystem for the Taiwan market.
