The National Fire Agency, Ministry of the Interior, has announced the winners of Taiwan’s 2024 Outstanding EMS Personnel Awards and held the national ceremony on September 9. The Hsinchu City Fire Bureau took home five individual honors, including the Medical Direction Contribution Award for personnel with ten cumulative years of service in the same fire bureau, and the Resuscitation Ace Award, which goes to responders with the highest number of CPR and AED cases leading to patients discharged with good neurological outcomes (CPC1 or CPC2). The strong showing again underscores Hsinchu’s excellence in prehospital emergency care.

Acting Mayor Chiu Chen-Yuan said the recognition demonstrates the Fire Bureau’s advanced lifesaving skills and enhances the City’s reputation for dedicated service. He praised EMS staff for their professionalism and sacrifice, adding that the awards highlight Hsinchu’s continuing commitment to protect residents’ lives.

According to the Hsinchu City Fire Bureau, the National Fire Agency organizes the annual awards program to honor the expertise and hard work of EMS responders across Taiwan’s city and county fire bureaus and port fire brigades. The program sets a benchmark for excellence and boosts morale by recognizing outstanding individuals and teams. Categories include individual awards such as the Lifesaver Award, Resuscitation Ace Award, Childbirth Expert and EMS Champion Award, Medical Direction Contribution Award, and Senior EMS Contribution Award, as well as team awards and special distinction awards.
