From March 23 to 26, 2026, at the invitation of the Association of World Election Bodies (A-WEB) and the Central Electoral Commission of Armenia, the Central Election Commission of R.O.C. (Taiwan) attended the 14th Executive Board Meeting held in Yerevan, Armenia. The meeting served as a platform for election management bodies (EMBs) from around the world to exchange insights on pivotal issues in global election governance.
During the thematic presentation sessions, the Commission delivered a keynote titled “Tackling Election Disinformation in Taiwan Inter-agency and Social Media Collaboration.” The presentation shared Taiwan’s strategies for addressing the challenges of disinformation in the digital age, highlighting how inter-agency collaboration and partnerships with digital platforms effectively strengthen electoral resilience and uphold public trust.
Furthermore, the Commission highlighted the core features of Taiwan’s electoral system, including the highly transparent and open polling and ballot-counting processes, as well as the professionalism and integrity that define our electoral operations.
A significant point of emphasis during the meeting was Taiwan’s consistent progress in gender equality and political participation. In the 2024 Legislative Election, the proportion of elected female legislators reached 41.59%, ranking among the highest in Asia. This achievement underscores the increasingly pivotal role women play in public decision-making, reflecting both the successful implementation of institutional safeguards and strong societal support for diverse political representation.
Taiwan remains dedicated to fostering inclusive and representative democratic development through international cooperation. We will continue to work hand-in-hand with our global partners to promote the integrity of fair and open elections worldwide.
