The "Enterprise Europe Network Taiwan (EEN Taiwan)" has recently been approved by the EU to join the EEN for the new period from 2022 to 2025. The Bureau of Foreign Trade (BOFT) of the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) commissioned the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), and the Taiwan Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers' Association (TEEMA) to form the EEN Taiwan.
According to the BOFT, EEN Taiwan is a platform for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Through a series of events, such as B2B matchmaking and trade missions, Taiwanese SMEs have been able to deeply develop their presence in the EU market. Therefore, the BOFT will continue to promote cooperation between Taiwanese and European SMEs via the EEN to seize business opportunities.
The European Commission established the EEN in 2008, with more than 60 member states and 600 business cooperation centers around the world. To facilitate cooperation between European SMEs and other countries, the EEN provides business matching, R&D cooperation, and technology transfer as three major services.
Taiwan joined the EEN in 2015. Over the past few years, there have been various successful business matchmaking cases in the ICT, healthcare, and machine component industries. For example, a Taiwanese company and a Dutch company jointly cooperated on the R&D for a server cooling system. In addition, a Taiwanese company and a German company jointly developed non-touch hand sanitizer dispensers.
